These wonderful plants
are right at home in any sunny perennial garden, where its large white blooms compliment a
wide range of flower colors. The Shasta Daisy has been adored by gardeners for generations
and remains a favorite with our customers. Flower stalks can grow 24 - 36 inches
tall, while the dark green foliage remains 6 - 12 inches tall. Flowering begins in
early spring and continues through out the summer. Their long, stiff stems make them very
good for cutting and using in flower arrangements.
Growing Shasta Daisies:
Plant Shasta Daisies in full sun. Plants will grow in a wide range
of soils but prefer a well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Prepare your
soil by working in plenty of composted manure and peat moss before planting. Plants
will benefit from a top dressing of compost and bone meal applied in early spring and
another feeding of liquid fish emulsion in late spring. Cut back spent flower stems
to the ground to encourage heavier flowering.
