Also known as Hollyhock
Mallow, Malva is a real treasure of summer color. These sun loving perennials offer soft
pink flowers with striking raspberry-purple markings resembling small pinwheels.
Plants form thick crowns from which grow multiple stems each carrying a massive
amount of blossoms. Malva self seeds freely and will pop up in unexpected places.
Plants are very easy to grow and very heat tolerant. One of the best
perennials we grow for growing in hot summer sun.
Plant in full sun and provide a rich well drained soil. Fertilize in early
spring with a top dressing of compost and bone meal. Liquid feed through out the
summer with fish emulsion or seaweed extract. Plants are considered to be extremely
heat tolerant but newly planted Malva will need to be kept watered until it has a chance
to establish itself.
