This adorable plant produces two
different sets of leaves. The first set appearing in the spring are deeply divided,
green and in the shape of a kimono - they have purple veining and a crinkled texture.
As summer approaches the foliage is replaced by a new set of leaves that are bigger
and more round. As cool weather begins to set in the leaves slowly fade to a
copper-rose color. As if all these changes where not enough Kimono sends up 18 inch
scapes bearing creamy white flowers in May and continues to bloom through most of July.
A very unique perennial.
NOTE:
Heucherella are considered hardy in zones 4 - 9, however these plants perform
better in the cooler summers of the North. Their life spans are short in climates
with hot humid summers.
