This is one of the most reliable,
undemanding ferns we have ever grown. A native to North America, in fact this fern dots
the woodlands that border our nursery. It is considered to be evergreen - which
technically it is. The fronds do remain green during the winter but unfortunate do
not remain erect. Fronds are a leathery green and unfurl from beautiful
silvery-grey fiddleheads in spring. This rugged fern is extremely easy to grow and
once established will thrive in the garden for years. Clump forming and should be
divided every 3 - 4 years. Christmas Ferns gets its name from the fact the
gorgeous green fronds where once commonly used as Christmas decorations.
