 A hybrid Delphinium from New
Zealand's famous breeder Terry Dowdeswell. Blushing
Brides has enormous spires of rich mulberry-pink flowers with white or brown bees. Blooming begins in June and last into August. After the
blooms fade cut the plants back to about 5 inches and with a little tender care, Blushing
Brides will flower again by mid September. This particular strain from Dowdeswell is
considered far superior to commonly available Delphiniums such as Pacific Giants - plants
are bigger, stronger and show better resistance to mildew. Superiority comes from a
breeding program that involves the very tedious chore of hand pollination. Foliage
is deep green with deeply divided leaves that is gorgeous even when not in bloom.
