Sky's the Limit climbing
rose will shoot for the sky in her first year of being planted.
Plants are vigorous and extremely fast growing making them a perfect
choice for the impatient gardener. Blooms are a pleasing shade of
buttery yellow and appear in abundance all summer long. Plants have
excellent, lush green leaves that offer very good disease resistance
and provide the perfect back drop to the yellow flowers. One of
the best yellow climbers we have ever grown.
Height: 10 - 12 feet
Habit: sprawling
Fragrance: mild fruity fragrance
Disease Resistance: good
Zones: 5-10
Culture Notes: Plant in area that
receives full sun, a minimum of 5 hours of direct sun is recommended. Climbing
roses are not as fussy about soils as many other types of roses,
but will do their best in a soil that has been amended with plenty
of organic materials. (see
improving your soil for more info) While these roses are considered
very heat tolerant they do require a moderate level of moisture
to really flower heavily. Water during extended dry spells and frequently
during the first 3 -4 weeks after planting. To help conserve
soil moisture it is always a good idea to apply a layer of organic
mulch such as pine bark around the base of the plant to a depth
of 3 - 4 inches. Pruning is required to maintain a tidier plant
and deadheading faded blooms will encourage heavier flowering. Feed
at least twice during the growing season with a combination of blood
and bone meals and once in mid summer with a good organic rose fertilizer.
