moderately moist, well drained and rich

Clematis 'Hagley Hybrid'Subtle, shell pink to mauve flowers that do not overpower other flower colors in the garden.  Halgey Hybrid is always our choice when planting a garden that is "charming" or "peaceful" in its overall tone. The soft pinks of this plant blend in, instead of glare out. Very nice Clematis for the rose garden, where the roses are on display but need some companion plantings. The dainty pink flowers will loose their color quickly in hot sun so provide some evening shade to preserve color.  Very heavy flowering, blooms from June through September and is one of our suggested Clematis for new gardeners. We have seen this same Clematis listed in other catalogs under the name "Pink Chiffon".
