Knight is treasured by gardeners for its showy panicles of deep dark violet flowers and
its ability to attract butterflies. Foliage color is a nice grey-green that forms a nice
upright shrub. Black Knight can reach heights of 8 -10 feet if left unpruned.
For larger flowers and to keep height under control we recommend cutting the bush back to
12 inches each fall. Pruning not only helps control size but promotes larger
flowers. Butterfly bushes will tolerate a wide range of soils but seem to flower
more profusely in soil that has been properly amended with organic materials. While
Buddleias will grow in shaded areas, they will bloom better if given a spot that
receives full sun.
