These shade loving
perennials are right at home in wooded areas or along the bank of stream. Plants
produce airy sprays of forget-me-not like purple flowers which first begin to appear in
spring and continue through mid-summer. Beautiful as the dainty flowers are - most
gardeners are drawn to Brunnera for its striking foliage. Modern breeders have
really improved the varigated patterns and colors of leaves available. Brunnera
makes an excellent ground cover and is the prefect companion for hostas. Another
popular use for this outstanding perennial is to cover up faded spring flowering bulbs
such as tulips and daffodills. Just as these bulbs begin to fade the Brunnera plants
come to life. Very easy to grow, just provide a good rich soil and some shade from the hot
afternoon sun.
