Very nice form of Bergenia with large glossy
green leaves that turn a beautiful shade of maroon-red in the fall. Gorgeous
clusters of blooms open up on short thick stems in April and continue blooming through
much of May. Flowers are light pink at first and slowly turn more intense hot pink.
Bergenia is not recommended for gardeners with bitter cold winters but can be grown
successfully in Zone 5 with protection. Plants prefer to be planted where they do
not receive the hot afternoon sun in a soil that is rich in organic matter. Protect plants
roots during the winter with a good layer of mulch applied in late autumn.
