This
spectacular new generation of Columbines has our hearts all a-flutter. We have
always adored this perennial and the Clementine series has reignited the love affair.
The blooms are completey double and do not have spurs - they actually look like a
small, double clematis flower. The plants are very heavy bloomers producing large
amounts of upward facing flowers from the middle of May through June. Clementine
Purple - you have to have this plant in your garden!
Plant in full sun to light shade (southern gardeners should give them
afternoon shade) and provide a rich well drained soil. Fertilize in early spring with a
top dressing of compost and bone meal. Liquid feed through out the summer with fish
emulsion or seaweed extract.
