A stunning Siberian
Iris from the famous Iris breeder Currier McEwen. Silver Edge is magical and always
takes our breath each spring. Plants come into color in mid to late spring with flowers
that are a rich shade of sky blue with narrow silver margins. An outstanding
vertical accent in any perennial border. Plants grow to a height of around 30 inches
tall and equally as wide.
Siberian Iris will grow in a wide range of conditions but for best results
grow them in a moist, slightly acidic soil that has been amended with plenty of organic
materials. Plants prefer full sun but do just as well in partial shade.
Established clumps of Siberian Iris are very drought tolerant due to their deep
growing root systems - newly planted ones are not and need a good supply of water to
establish themselves. Mulch with two to three inches of pine bark to conserve soil
moisture.
