Let us introduce to you the
American Hostas Growers Hosta of the Year for 2006. Stained Glass is a sport from another
award winner 'Guacamole' and is in our opinion an improvement over its parent.
Stained Glass offers huge 10 inch leaves that have more intense gold and green
markings. Named for the distinctive veining that runs throughout the foliage which
creates a "stained glass window" effect. Flowers are very fragrant and
will lure butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden like a magnet. Very limited
supply, Stained Glass is sure to sell out quickly.
Hosta 'Stained Glass'
| Mature plant size: 15"
tall X 40" wide |
| Flowering: Very fragrant
pale lavender flowers appear in mid-summer |
| Growth Rate: Moderate |
| Awards: Hosta of the
Year 2006 |
| Comments: Considered to
be very tolerant of full sun |
Hostas prefer partial to full
shade and a good rich garden soil that is moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial
role in growing beautiful Hosta plants - you will need to water plants during prolonged
dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted manure and bone
meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the growing season with seaweed extract or
fish emulsion. For more growing instructions see our Hosta
care guide. |
