Hostas prefer partial to full shade and a good rich garden soil that is moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial role in growing beautiful Hosta plants - you will need to water plants during prolonged dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted manure and bone meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the growing season with seaweed extract or fish emulsion. A hybrid developed by crossing an unnamed seedling with 'Fragrant Bouquet'.
The results are what we consider to be one of the best Hostas on the market.
Beautiful, glossy, green leaves with creamy yellow margins that fade to white as
summer comes. So Sweet was named Hosta of the Year in 1996 and deserves more wide
spread use. It is very quick grower making it perfect for landscaping. Flowers
are very fragrant and attract hummingbirds to the garden - plants flower best if given 3/4
day of sun.
