The
American Hosta Growers Association select a variety every year
based on exceptional foliage, fragrant or showy flowers and overall
garden performance. For 2010 they have named First Frost the winner
of this prestigious award. This incredible Hosta is a sport of 'Halcyon'
known for its great blue leaves. First Frost carries the great frosty-blue
color over from its parent but adds wonderful yellow margins with
irregular jetting. Margins are creamy yellow when the plants first
appear and then slowly turn to a very nice white as the weather
warms and the season progresses.

| Comments:
very easy to grow and gaining in popularity. |
Plants
prefer partial to full shade and a good rich garden soil that is
moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial role in growing
beautiful Hostas- you will need to water plants during prolonged
dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted
manure and bone meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the
growing season with seaweed extract or fish emulsion. For
more growing instructions see our Hosta
care guide.
