Hostas prefer partial to full shade and a good rich garden soil that is moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial role in growing beautiful Hosta plants - you will need to water plants during prolonged dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted manure and bone meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the growing season with seaweed extract or fish emulsion. Considered by many Hosta
growers to be a classic. Crowned Imperial was introduced in 1988 and has since then become
one of the most widely grown Hostas in the country. The broad, grey-green leaves
have narrow creamy white margins. A fast grower and extremely easy to grow are two
of the characteristics that made this Hosta so popular among gardeners. Crowned
Imperial looks great in large containers as well - in fact it is one we often recommend
for potting.
