Absolutely gorgeous blue-green
leaves with very heavy substance. Abiqua Drinking Gourd is by far one of the most unusual
blue Hostas we have ever grown. The misty blues leaves are very curiously cupped
upward. The cupping form is so pronounced that the leaves actually hold small pools of
water after a rain - hence the name. We have actually seen small birds drinking from
the leaves. The thick leaves are very resistant to slugs and remain beautiful all
season long. The foliage color is more intense if given some light morning sun.

Hostas prefer partial to full
shade and a good rich garden soil that is moist but well drained. Moisture plays a crucial
role in growing beautiful Hosta plants - you will need to water plants during prolonged
dry spells. Feed in very early spring with a top dressing of composted manure and bone
meal. Liquid feed at least twice during the growing season with seaweed extract or
fish emulsion. For more growing instructions see our Hosta
care guide. |
