Blue Hostas add awonderful unique
color to shaded areas.
Blue Hostas are probably the most
popular group of hostas we offer. A blue Hosta exists for almost
any type of landscape situation from large specimens to small border
plants. Gardeners just love the unique blue colored leaves
these plants have to offer- a color not found in any other group
of perennials. Besides the beautiful leaf color, another favorable
characteristic is that many offer great slug resistance. Blue Hostas
have a waxy coating over their leaves making the foliage thicker
and tougher allowing them to ward off many garden pests. This same
waxy coating is what gives the Hosta plant its bluish color. If
grown in to much sun this coating can melt away causing the leaves
to turn green. Blue Hostas will retain their color much better
when grown in partial to full shade. We have put together what
we feel is a very good selection of some the best blues on the market
and have added a wonderful new variety this year called 'Blue
Mouse Ears'. We are always keeping an eye out for new varieties
to add to this list so check back from time to time.
